Gold Coast University Hospital was experiencing an increase in the number, complexity and acuity of patients requiring rehab services. In an effort to better manage these challenges they developed a Rehabilitation Response team. The multi-disciplinary team (11.3 FTE) introduced a 2 week program involving 10 different packages of Rehab. As a result, increased patient diversity and referrals from new specialties has been noted and a reduction in intervention and assessment times and ALOS has been achieved.
