Author: Sarah Brandt | Posted: 28/06/2016 | Views: 927
At Alfred Hospital data regarding the role of medications in MET** calls was limited. However, with some internal analysis it was determined that 1 in 5 of MET calls were due to medications and are preventable.

In an effort to prevent medication related causes of deterioration Alfred Hospital began to involve pharmacists in the care of deteriorating patients.

As a result:
• Improved data was gathered and a better understanding of the role medications play in MET calls was achieved
• Pharmacists are now more involved in the care of deteriorating patients and aid in prevention, attendance at MET calls and follow-up
