Calvary Mater Newcastle introduce a “Red Alert Calendar” as an effective risk mitigation strategy

Author: Matt Stewart | Posted: 20/11/2015 | Views: 1503
The team at Calvary Mater realised that patient flow was dependant on many complex sets of relationships and when one resource is affected it slows the whole system down. Dates for recurrent events such as JMO/Registrar term changes were not commonly known and mitigation plans were not in place.

In order to forecast upcoming recurrent disruptions and create a proactive culture by developing risk mitigation strategies, they developed the “Red alert Calendar”.  Since its introduction they achieved 83.9% ETP for the first red alert event with excellent staff feedback.
