Princess Alexandra Hospital develop a workload measurement tool to alleviate staff shortages

Author: Matt Stewart | Posted: 10/11/2015 | Views: 1767
With 9 work-groups to manage over 4 geographical locations, the physiotherapy department at Princess Alexandra needed to come up with a smart way to manage staff leave and rostering. They developed an algorithm, based on weighted workload factors, to produce a numerical (and colour coded) value to describe status of each work area on a given day, resulting in better coordination of resource allocation targeting the expected busy departments with more staff . Early results have indicated an improvement in teamwork and resource allocations.
