Mater Health Services reduce prosthetics costs by 30%
A budget review revealed a noticeable increase in prosthetic costs at Mater Health Service, and a further study revealed a great variation in costs of prostheses. There were also reported incidents of contaminated loan sets and surgical delay due to late arriving loan sets.
The surgical team at Mater engaged all the orthopaedic surgeons to identify a suitable supplier based on cost, support and education. Apart from the impressive cost savings since standardisation, they have also reduced surgical delays related to loan sets and incidents of contamination.
