Volunteers can improve care for patients with a hip fracture and delirium
At Princess Alexandra Hospital, 2 volunteers are used to
reduce the duration and risk from delirium. An evaluation is underway but
anecdotally volunteers have provided support to patients, their families and
staff. The volunteers provide companionship and use diversion and stimulation
to reduce anxiety and risk as well as improving nutrition.
