Volunteers can improve care for patients with a hip fracture and delirium

At Princess Alexandra Hospital, 2 volunteers are used to reduce the duration and risk from delirium. An evaluation is underway but anecdotally volunteers have provided support to patients, their families and staff. The volunteers provide companionship and use diversion and stimulation to reduce anxiety and risk as well as improving nutrition.
