Armadale Health Service has reduced the primary caesarean section rate by nearly 50%
Armadale Health Service has reduced the primary caesarean section rate by nearly 50% over 4 years with multidisciplinary team work.
They have improved the service to women using a variety of methods including improving continuity of care; improving induction of labour with strict criteria to reduce all non-medically indicated inductions and consultant input for all women with a failed induction; running a successful TOLAC clinic for women with a previous caesarean section; improving care to women with a breech pregnancy with a high success rate for ECV; attempting a vaginal birth for most twin pregnancies where the first twin is cephalic; and using partograms for active management of labour dystocia and failure to progress.
