HRT members are now relabelling “frequent flyers” to “VIPs”

Author: Matt Stewart | Posted: 4/03/2015 | Views: 1149

Following the HRT Roundtable on Reducing Avoidable Unplanned Readmissions, members agreed that relabeling frequent flyers to VIPs (or very important/intensive) patients helps create an attitude shift.

Understanding the reasons why VIPs represent to ED is valuable and five members piloted an online case review tool. This tool provides a framework to assist members to conduct chart reviews and provider and patient interviews. Members using the tool found it very valuable – particularly given that for about one third of readmissions social factors were a contributing factor.
