Please register your delegates by 31 July 2009 and indicate which Workshop each delegate will be attending on Day 2 - 11 August. Delegate Registrations may be cancelled up 3 August 2009, with a full credit of monies paid. After that date, no credits are possible. However, you may substitute a different person for those registered at any time. Hotel and airfare arrangements are separate, and may have different policies regarding cancellations and name changes. Please contact them directly.   

NOTE: Delegates are responsible for making their own accommodation and travel/flight arrangements. If you require accommodation please complete the Accommodation Booking Form and return it to the Hotel as soon as possible. Blocked accommodation rooms will only be held until 10 July 2009.

Update of MHBG KPI Data using Casemix Indicators July-Dec 08:
  • Overview Presentation of KPIs by domain – effective, appropriate, efficient, responsive, accessible, sustainable, capable, safe, and continuous indicators with casemix updates where available.
  • Discussion of variations.
  • Discussion of Data Issues, Definitions & Collection Methodologies.

  • Plenary - Overview of extraction method, assumptions etc

  • Further analysis and discussion of the CAMHS community data – How can the collection, accuracy and reports based on the raw community data be improved?

Poster Presentations: 2 Weeks in the life of a CAMH service:
The aim of this session is to provide teams with a general operational overview of your CAMHS service. 
Participants to present a poster outlining an overview of the types of activities (clinical, managerial, research, teaching & training) conducted over a 2 week period in June of their CAMHS.
Please list the types of clinics, types of professionals running the clinics, types of patients seen, types of administrative meetings held, home visits, research and teaching conducted, issues faced by the service within that 2 weeks etc.

 Workforce Ideas/Innovations in Mental Health
A brief poster presentation describing useful or innovative workforce strategies implemented in the following areas that you would like to share with the group:
  • Core competencies – general or unit specific, models of care.
  • Recruitment & Retention – Employer of choice, workforce development, job redesign, recruitment competencies.

Clinical Outcome Data Sets & Scorecards
A brief poster presentation with the following information:
  • Example of your scorecards/KPIs/outcome measures and a brief flow chart or description of how they are utilised.
  • For each outcome measure used please describe:

             1. With which patient types they are used?

             2. What is the percentage utilisation of the measure?

             3. What is the average percentage improvement in outcome measure over the length of stay?

  • What type of incident analysis method(s) does your MH service use & what is the process for reporting, actioning and monitoring incidents. What is the process to ensure closing the loop on the incident?
Discussion of development of clinical outcomes data sets
Consider the following questions for discussion:
  • What is possible to benchmark over the next 12 months?
  • What quality indicators can we begin to benchmark (including falls, medication errors, absconding, aggression)? 
  • How can we begin to take this forward?

Models of Care/Case Management:

  • What is the model of care and case management model across community and acute? 
  • What is the referral process/patient journey from inpatient to the community? 
  • How do you manage non-core business (e.g. intellectual disability clients who become forensic mental health clients)?
Care Planning
  • What is your post-discharge follow-up and readmission rate in the community? 
  • How do you measure Care Planning Quality? 
  • What is the frequency of review? How do you review/audit care planning?
Patient flow Toxicology/Overdose
  • At what point is the patient coded as Mental Health?
  • What is the model of care and does it differ?
