The Patient Safety Improvement Group aims to address National Standards (NSQHS) and develop continuous risk management improvements to improve the safety of care and reduce variation. Members of the Patient Safety Improvement Group meet annually to share ideas and innovations that focus on improving the safety and quality of care within their health services. At the meeting members will share experiences and information on implementing innovative and effective practices and review results from the redesigned Patient Safety report that is provided yearly.

The goals of the group are to:

  • Improve patient safety across Australia and New Zealand
  • Reduce hospital acquired complications
  • Identify “exemplar performers” across the patient safety space
  • Share innovations in practices with an aim to improve patient experience and outcomes
The theme for the 2019 workshop is Unpacking the impact of leadership in patient. At the meeting members will share experiences and information on implementing innovative and effective practices and review results from the Patient Safety report that is provided yearly.

Keynote Rebecca Power Director, System Improvement, Innovation and Leadership Safer Care Victoria “Spread and scale, why is it so hard? … and how can leaders help” It will come as no surprise to you that the number one reason for project failure is Leadership. In this session we will explore this challenge through some practical examples and unpick the lessons to inform how we may better equip leaders to drive impactful change.
