The aim of this Group is to improve the provision of safe mental health services by sharing information on implementing innovative and effective practices. The group receives a series of annual reports that contain both inpatient and community data as well as some outcome measures. Separate reports are provided for adults, aged and CAMHS services. Members share information at an annual workshop.

The 2018 workshop will focus on the special topic of “Connecting beyond service boundaries for an integrated & consumer centric care system". Members will share information on integrated systems and working across service boundaries including engaging with all providers to support best consumer care. Members will share information about their practical experiences and innovations.

Day 1 – Wednesday 2nd May 2018

(All first time attendees and those interested in understanding how Health Roundtable bench-marking data is compiled and how it can be used, are strongly encouraged to attend this session).

INSIGHTS 1: Presentation of the Mental Health Data 2016 – 2017 – Review of acute inpatient data, community data and changes to reports. Small group discussions on specific data topics (selected by participants)

 

Objective – teams to discuss their data and find opportunities for improvement and causes for success. Small group discussion to identify how to improve specific indicators

INSIGHTS 2: Thought Starter Presentation – Connecting beyond service boundaries for an integrated & consumer centric care system – impact of the NDIS on Mental Health services. Amanda Bresnan (Executive Director for Community Mental Health Australia)

 

Objective: Hear and discuss how the current NDIS program is working in relation to Mental Health Services across the continuum of care

INNOVATION (1) – Update on 2017 Aim statements – Teams who attended last year’s meeting to report back (2 min, informal verbal) on progress to their 2017 aim statement.

Objective:  Spread the innovations from 2017 Mental Health Improvement Group

INNOVATION (2) - Innovation Poster Session – Each Facility to highlight an Innovation project around our topic of “Connecting beyond service boundaries for an integrated & consumer centric care system with a strong enabled workforce”

COLLABORATION   Split into Program Groups (Adult & CAMHS) for detailed discussion on the data & reports.

Detailed discussion of the reports, review of metrics and report.  Identification of improvement opportunities for adult and CAMHS services.

Think Tank:  Identifying and addressing Key issues in relation to “Connecting beyond service boundaries for an integrated & consumer centric care system with a strong enabled workforce”.

Team Action Planning: Participants will work with their own health services team to refine the Aim Statement and Action Plan based on the good ideas heard.

Teams to present their plans to the group.
