The aim of this Group is to improve the provision of safe mental health services by sharing information on implementing innovative and effective practices. The group receives a series of annual reports that contain both inpatient and community data as well as some outcome measures. Separate reports are provided for adults, aged and CAMHS services. Members share information at an annual workshop.

The 2017 workshop will focus on the special topic of "Addressing the strategic imperatives in Mental Health - workforce, change, ABF and outcomes‘’.  Members will share information on a broad range of topics including how to address workforce issues; how to respond to change; how to respond to the new ABF requirements and best practice in measurement of outcomes.

The Health Roundtable team will provide an overview of our reports – including Inpatient briefings, Departmental Reports, Mental Health, and our online tools.

(All first time attendees and those interested in understanding how Health Roundtable bench-marking data is compiled, and how it can be used, are strongly encouraged to attend this session).

2. Thought Starter – Mr James Downie, Chief Executive Officer, Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (IHPA)  James will discuss the new Australian Mental Health Classification System and the progress and learnings being made from the data collection

*Separate Break out session - for New Zealand Hospitals, this time will be spent discussing New Zealand Mental Health topics of interest and indicators

7. Deciding What To Do 2 -  Health Service team action planning

Highlight Key HRT innovations from 2016-2017.

Deciding how transformational change can occur and developing a clear vision of the change activities that are needed

8. Program Groups - Mental Health data review & issues discussion, separate CAMHS & Adult MH discussion groups

·         We will split into program groups for separate sessions to discuss the data and/or any other issues

9. Making things happen

Solving burning platform issues for improving mental health services

·         Teams to input into our online system the key issues / things they need help with around their Action plan.

·         Small group discussion with other participants from same state or country on how issues can be addressed

Not letting up – creating a new culture - Team Action Planning

·         Participants will work with their own health service team again to develop and write an Aim Statement and Action Plan based on the good ideas you have heard.

·         All plans will be placed on wall posters for general improvement discussion / suggestions by other teams.

·         Finally, teams will refine their action plans and present them back.
