The theme of the workshop is Safety
and Quality at End of Life. The
healthcare that patients receive in their last years, months and weeks of their
lives can help minimise the distress and grief associated with death and dying
for the individual, and for the family, friends and carers. Many patients spend
much of their last year of life going in and out of hospital and more than half
of those who die each year do so in acute hospitals.
The
purpose of this workshop is to:
- Discuss the
provision of safe high-quality end of life care for patients
- Share systems for
delivering safe, timely and high – quality care in a way that is tailored
to the population, resources and personnel available
- Share
innovations and experience to support practical application of processes and
systems to ensure the provision of safe high-quality end of life care for
patients
Delegates will share issues, practices and good ideas to develop action
plans over the two days for implementation in their service. The 2017 End of Life Care reports will be
available on the website by the 26th April.
