Improving Care for Patients with Hip Fracture

More than 17,000 Australians and almost 4,000 New Zealanders break their hip every year, incurring hospital costs of AU$579 Million and NZ$105 Million. Health Roundtable data shows that across hospitals there is wide variation in how care is delivered with differences in timely access to operating theatre, length of stay in hospital and readmissions to hospital

In September 2014 the Australian and New Zealand Guideline for Hip Fracture Care: Improving Outcomes in Hip Fracture Management of Adults was published.
