The theme for 2015 is  “Improving Patient Safety After Hours”.

How do different nursing workforce skill mix and rostering, at night and on weekends contribute to the safety of patients?  

Our analysis in 2014 highlighted that patients admitted on weekends generally had higher mortality rates for the same conditions than patients admitted during the week. However, several hospitals have eliminated this gap in with improved staffing practices.
