Making Time for Caring / Transforming the Ward

The pace of activity in major hospitals today is so high that nursing staff are literally walking several kilometres a day searching for patients, notes, medications, equipment, and other staff.  Hospitals around the world are discovering that this isn't necessary.  By redesigning the work practices in the ward, nursing staff are reducing the wasted time and effort of searching for things to give them more time for caring about their patients.

We have invited Brian Dolan to share his stories about how to make these changes in your organisation.

Brian Dolan is currently working as the Director of Service Improvement and

Patient Flow in Christchurch. Previously, he worked as Executive Director of

Modernisation and Service Improvement, East Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust and Clinical Director, A&E Services.
Health Roundtable staff (Pieter Walker and Jamie Wilson) will also share the stories of hospital Lean Healthcare teams that have been reducing wasted time and effort over the past three years.
