Dr Raj Behal, MD, MPH will provide a one-day interactive workshop for physicians, nurses and patient safety staff in Sydney on 19 August, prior to joining us at the Patient Safety Health Roundtable meeting in Broadbeach, Queensland on 21-22 August. Dr Behal is currently Senior Patient Safety Officer and Associate Chief Medical Officer, Rush University Medical Centre, Chicago, USA.

 

 

This one-day workshop will start at 10.00 am and continue to 3.00 pm.  Morning tea and lunch will be provided.

Key objectives:

·       Develop an understanding of key drivers of inpatient mortality and how to improve performance.
·       Learn about appropriate uses and limitations of risk-adjusted outcomes data.
·       Learn about results-driven performance improvement.
·       Learn about a state-of-the-art model for improving patient safety that identifies and traps harm before it occurs.
·       Recognise the importance of relationships and leadership skills in improving quality.
·       Learn about best practices in care improvement and benchmarks from the U.S. and Australia.
