The Patient Safety Improvement Group meets annually to compare practices and process indicators.  A key objective is to spread innovative practices that reduce adverse events quickly throughout Australia and New Zealand.
 
The focus of the 2014 meeting will be to improve clinical handovers and escalation of unwell patients.  Clinical handover remains a challenge for all hospitals.  When a patient deteriorates, particularly at night and on weekends, junior doctors and nurses often find it difficult to escalate their care to more senior and experienced members of the team.  Click here for information brouchure
Participants will share their practical experiences and innovations for improving clinical handover and escalation of care, and correlate this with Health Roundtable patient safety indicator comparisons.
