Successive healthcare reform reports in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States have stressed the importance of doctors being actively engaged in leadership and improvement of services. However, many health services are struggling to work constructively with their medical staff. High turnover of health service executives, unclear accountability for service provision, lack of transparency in operational performance, and inadequate training to work in a collaborative team environment have conspired to disempower medical staff.
The Health Roundtable is delighted to have Professor Peter Spurgeon, Director of the Institute for Clinical Leadership at Warwick Medical School, United Kingdom and partner of Engage to Perform Ltd lead a one-day workshop on Engaging your Medical Workforce on 27 August in Sydney.
Peter is the author of many articles and books on medical leadership and medical engagement and along with colleagues has developed the Medical Engagement Scale (MES), which has been shown to demonstrate a clear link between the concept of medical engagement as a cornerstone of high-performing health services in the UK.
Workshop Aim: Understand the key aspects of Medical Engagement and share ideas on ways to improve it in the Australasian context.
Who should attend? Senior health service leaders, human resource management experts, and directors of medical services from Health Roundtable member organisations.
Meeting Cost:
The registration fee for this one-day special workshop is $450 per person plus GST, including the meeting venue, refreshments, and lunch.
